Car Brake Repair & Replacement

Keep your vehicles running safe with a brake inspection from Seven Oaks Transmission. Brake maintenance is one of the most important factors ensuring the safety of your vehicle, and it’s essential to appreciate the many moving parts that make up your brake system.

Warning Signs

Warning Signs

The brake dashboard light glows amber or red, brake pedal feels spongy, brake pedal presses closer to the floor than usual squeaky, grinding noise is heard, and/or the vehicle pulls to one side when the brakes are applied.

Brake Parts

Brake Parts

Your braking system is a complex assembly of mechanical, electronic and hydraulic components which uses friction to slow and stop a moving vehicle. When the brake pedal is applied, the pressure on the brake pedal moves a piston in the master cylinder, forcing the brake fluid from the master cylinder through the brake lines and flexible hoses to the calipers and wheel cylinders. The force applied to the brake pedal produces a proportional force on each of the pistons.

The calipers and wheel cylinders contain pistons, which are connected to a disc brake pad or brake shoe. Each output piston pushes the attached friction material against the surface of the rotor or wall of the brake drum, thus slowing down the rotation of the wheel. When pressure on the pedal is released, the pads and shoes return to their released positions. This action forces the brake fluid back through the flexible hose and tubing to the master cylinder.

Disc Brakes

Disc Brakes

Disc Brakes are comprised of a disc (rotor), a caliper assembly, and pads. The caliper is connected to the master cylinder through tubes, hoses and valves that conduct brake fluid through the system.

Drum Brakes

Drum Brakes

Drum Brakes are comprised of a drum and backing plate, a hub or axle assembly, brake shoes, and wheel cylinder. The wheel cylinder is connected to the master cylinder through tubes, hoses and valves that dispenses brake fluid through the system.

Brake Fluid

Brake Fluid

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid used to transfer force under pressure from where it is created through hydraulic lines to the braking mechanism near the wheels. Braking produces extreme heat so brake fluid must have a high boiling point to remain effective and must not freeze under operating conditions.

Don’t Put It Off

Brake pad replacement is the most common repair job simply because brakes are designed to wear out. Your brake pads rub on the brake disc to slow and stop your vehicle, so worn pads are the first part to check. The longer you prolong servicing your braking system, the probability of more costly repairs are looming.

From the pads to fluids, calipers to rotors, discs to ABS sensors, Seven oaks Transmission and Auto repair shop can perform brake repair on any make and model car, truck, or SUV. Call or come by for a complete brake inspection today!

Have been having constant problems with my new car, every time I take it to the dealership they say they can’t recreate the problem or they don’t know the conditions I’m putting the car under. It was so refreshing to have someone explain what was wrong with my car and fix it properly the first time! Front desk is very friendly and helpful, they are a little pricey but totally worth having it done right!

I took my car to Seven Oaks Transmissions after reading all the good reviews on Google, and I wasn't disappointed.
Tom is friendly, open, and honest, and gave me the all the information I needed to make repair decisions. There was absolutely no pressure to spend more money than I wanted to spend. Plus, they arranged for shuttle service to take me to work after dropping my car off, and back to the garage when the repairs were finished.
I'd definitely recommend this business to anyone!

Great service and honest advice. I took my truck in for what i thought was a transfer case issue/noise and they spent a while going through it and listing for the noise i was hearing and checking all the know issues with these trucks. They believed it was gear lash/wear in the drive train but recommended that i didn't replace any components as everything was 100% functional and none of the bearings were showing signs (sounds) of wear and they couldn't guarantee that replacing anything would rid me of the noise i was hearing.

After several weeks of reading online and asking other shops for advice and most other sources suggesting a rebuild i found a socket slightly rolling under a floor mat that was hitting the bolt that mounts the seat to the floor. Inside the truck the noise was really muffled but underneath the truck it sounded very loud as the sound was traveling down the bolt and all across they floor board.

Anyhow, I appreciated their honesty and recommending that i don't spend the money on replacing anything as there was no other signs that anything was wrong or worn other then the noise. I will definitely be taking all of my vehicles there in the future as i trust that they are only going to recommend fixing/replacing parts that need to be replaced. They saved me 1500$ :)
